Rules of 8 Ball
Pool, or billiards, as it is also known, is a game that has been played for many centuries. But there are many rules that need to be adhered to if you want to play a legal game. In this article, I will go through some of the general rules governing the play of game 8 Ball, so that you know exactly what is going on.
8 Ball starts out with a set of numbered billiard balls, labeled 1-15. The balls labeled 1-7 are solid colors, while numbers 9-15 are striped. The object of the game is to pocket all of the balls of your group, while leaving the 8 Ball alone. The player who clears the table of their set of balls and legally pockets the 8 Ball wins the game. As for equipment, you will need a set of billiard balls as well as a cue ball and some cue sticks to hit the cue ball with.
Setting up the table all begins with racking the balls. This is done by placing the balls in rack, making sure to have the 8 Ball in the center. On the base of the rack, you will want to position a ball of each color on opposite sides. The break shot can be determined however you want it to be, but the player who does go first must place the ball behind the head string, or the second dot on the rail closest to the head of the table.
Once the balls have been scattered, and none being pocketed, a player is free to choose which ball they want to aim for and try to pocket. If a ball does become pocketed on the break, the person who broke must aim for the balls of that suit.
Once underway, and a certain suit of ball has been legally pocketed by a player, both players will take turns trying to pocket the balls of their suit. Missing a ball, pocketing the cue ball or hitting a ball of another suit before you hit yours results in a scratch and a loss of turn.
When all of the balls of one suit have been pocketed by a player, they can then legally shoot for the 8 Ball and try to win the game. Depending on the rules that you play by, a person may need to pocket the 8 Ball by calling their shot. This is simply calling which pocket you think the 8 Ball will fall into once you have struck it. If it goes into the pocket you want, you are the winner. If the 8 Ball is missed, or the cue ball goes into a pocket or the 8 Ball is made in a pocket that wasn’t called, then the opposite player is declared the winner by default of scratching on the 8 Ball.
There are many more rules to billiards than are actually presented here, but just as a rough breakdown, these are the only ones that you really need to be concerned with. Completing your recreation room with a new pool table for you to play will be great, especially if you can pair it up with a poker table.

How do you remove the blue chalk marks from the cue ball in snooker or pool?
I am selling my pool table and my white ball has got quite a few ingrained chalk marks that cannot be removed with a quick wash or wipe. I am wondering if there is a substance that might remove them, ie: vinegar or bleach etc etc... thanks in advance
Wet cloth should do me ol' china !!
