My brother hits me... but I can't do anything about it. Help?
I'm a young teenager, and my brother obviously has problems. Even when I don't do anything to annoy him, he takes his anger out on me. Punches me, slaps me, threatens me with a knife (never actually cut me, but just threatens to) and today he even started hitting me with a billiard stick! I tell our parents, but all they say is "Peter, don't do it," but of course, that doesn't stop him. It's been going on for ages now.
I cannot retaliate, because then he'd go and tell and of course, seeing as I'm older, I'd be responsible for all of it and get into trouble.
But here's the catch.
He's 10 years old!
What can I do? My parents are doing NOTHING about it, I've tried telling them that he has serious mental problems, but they don't listen. No matter how much I stress it.
I feel really bad that he does this to you, because you don't deserve this. the next time he does this, then call the police, because if you have been telling your parents, and they aren't doing anything about it, then it is their fault if they get into trouble for this. Whether he's 10 years old or not, he obviously has some mental issues, so your parents are obligated to take care of him and take him to counseling to get him better. I hope you do the best thing for yourself, because again, you don't deserve to go through that abuse, and that's exactly what it is, he is abusing you and your parents are allowing it. Take care hun, if anything, maybe you should tell a friend of yours or their parents and let them call the police and do it from your friends house. Just warn your parents if it happens again, and let them know that you will call the police if they don't, and if don't, then do what you have to do. Take care...
